This is the blog version of my video guide on YouTube:

Hello adventurers!

In this post I’ll share with you my HONEST review of the ADD ON experience in RiverWonders: The AMAZON River Quest

I’ll share the PROBLEMS I have with the ride that made me think:
This Ride is Not For You

Don’t miss out on the 5% off when you use code DASHINGHEIGHTS when booking on KLOOK!

Let’s begin

What is It?

The Amazon River Quest is an ADD on experience in the RiverWonders that costs 5 dollars on top of your entry ticket (as of 2024). You can hop on a little boat down a stream and watch animals along the way like a little river safari.

So, will this be WORTH spending your hard earned $5?? we’ll get to that very soon

Before The Ride

The few times i was here, theres always some queue. It took me 15 minutes in off-peak period but could take a lot longer when it’s peak holiday period.

The Ride

It’s hard to put the ride into words, but here’s a carousel of it for you to visualise what it’s like. Otherwise the video on YouTube is great to get a feel.

The Problems

Firstly, I feel that the boat is too damn fast. Our boat rode through 500 metres in 7 minutes according to my gps tracker. Because it’s so fast, I feel like each animal encounter was a mad RUSH.

Once i spot the animal I have about 2 seconds to adore it and that’s it. If the animal is hiding and i can’t spot it. That’s it bye bye. As a result, some parts feel very empty.

For example, I didnt even see the anteater

And I almost missed the jaguar.

To give credits where its due, It’s a nice ride to sit and rest after walking the around the park. And they actually let you retake the ride as much as you want for free.

But I wish the boat can just go slower so that i can see the animals better. But then again that would probably increase the duration for queueing and we’ll end up wasting more time waiting in the queue.

The animals here are NOT unique to the amazon river quest anyway. You can find the anteater in Night Safari. In Singapore zoo you can find ALL of the primates you see in this ride AND more.

You want to see flamingoes? There’s a hundred of them in Bird Paradise and you can take your time to adore them instead of BUZZING past.

So… The Amazon River Quest is not very AMAZINg to me.

Exception

UNLESS you’re NOT planning to visit ANY of the other zoos in Mandai, I recommend to SKIP this ride. Spend your $5 on the ticket to the other zoos such as Singapore zoo and Bird Paradise instead. You can see the animals much closer AND at your own pace, making for a more satisfying visit.
AND you’re in luck because I have the PERFECT itinerary for you here:

I’ll see you there!
