Introduction
Hello adventurers!
Looking for the most epic way to experience Universal Studios Singapore (USS)?
In this guide, I’ll be ranking all the top attractions, sharing the best visiting route, and answering burning questions like:
- Is the Express Pass worth it?
- What’s the BEST route?
- Where to get the cheapest tickets?
After reading this, you’ll be a USS expert, ready to conquer every ride like a pro.
Let’s begin!
Overview
USS is split into seven distinctly themed zones, each with rides, shows, and attractions. Here’s a summary:
1.
Hollywood
When you first enter USS, you’ll step into Hollywood—a recreation of Los Angeles streets, lined with gift shops and restaurants.
Pantages ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)
The Pantages is a Hollywood Theater where you can catch live-action musical show. Currently it’s featuring Trolls but they have a new show once every few years. This is most suited for family with children.
Other than that, Hollywood is mostly filled with shops and vibes for photos.
2.
New York
Moving onto the next zone: You’ll find the New York complete with iconic buildings from its original source.
Spaghetti Space Chase ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)
Join Elmo from the Sesame street on a short but fun ride, perfect for families with young children.
Lights, Camera, Action! ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5/5)
You’ll be thrown into a movie scene and experience what it’s like to be in a category 5 hurricane disaster! The scene was directed by Steven Spielberg himself.
Note: Indoor, air-conditioned, no long queues.
3.
Sci-Fi City
The most futuristic part of USS, home to two of the biggest rides in the park based on the Battlestar Galactica franchise. The concept is simple, it’s a galactic war and you’re boarding a space-ship to fight the other side. Which side are you on?
Battlestar Galactica: Human ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
To support the humans, take the RED track, a super fast, smooth roller coaster.
Battlestar Galactica: Cylon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
To support the alien Cylons, take the blue track… but be ready for the super exhilarating upside down moments – at least 5 of it.
These 2 are MUST-ride for adrenaline junkies.
The only downside is the hassle of having to store ALL loose articles – that includes your bag, phone, wallet. NOTHING in your pocket. Thankfully there’s a locker just beside the ride.
Transformers: The Ride ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Wanna ride in a transformer-car? In this 4D simulator you can! You’ll witness the frontlines against Megatron. It includes crazy effects that made on-screen explosions feel very realistic.
While exciting, the ride is very kid friendly with no extreme movements.
Accelerator ⭐⭐ (2/5)
You get into a yellow circular seats that spins- mimicking the turning up of a generator. Great for those who love spinny rides, personally this was very boring for me.
4.
Ancient Egypt
Step into the world of the Pharaohs and prepare for the best ride in the park.
Revenge of the Mummy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Journey on to LIFT the curse of the mummy in this indoor roller coaster with electrifying speed, realistic effects – AND reversal.
Hands down is the best ride in the USS, but I dare you put your hands up the whole way! If you can only ride one ride in USS, ride this one.
Treasure Hunters ⭐✨ (1.5/5)
Embark on a treasure hunt aboard a self-driving jeep. The Egypt-themed decors along the road are nice, but it’s not exactly what I’m looking for in a theme park.
This ride might be perfect for those looking for slow and chill ride
-BUT if you TREASURE your time, you might wanna skip this.
5.
The Lost World
Step foot into the world of the Jurassic Park…
Rapids Adventure ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
THE DINOS HAS BROKEN OUT!! Escape the facility via an emergency raft! This is a very enjoyable water-coaster with a BIG drop at the end.
USS knows full well you might get wet, so they sell raincoats for $6/piece just outside. If you still get wet, there’s also a human sized dryer that can help you dry for $5. They really know how to squeeze you DRY so bring your own raincoat if you’re planning to ride!
Canopy Flyer ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Ride with the pterodactyls! This short aerial ride brings you above the Lost World at moderate speed, giving you a great view of USS.
Dino-Soarin’ ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)
It’s a spinny ride where you board a mini pterodactyl flying. I gotta give credit to this one though because unlike other spinny ride, you can press a button to control how high or low you wanna fly.
WaterWorld Show ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5/5)
If you love watching movies you might remember the WaterWorld franchise. In USS, you can watch the theatrical stage version!
It’s a live-action stunt shows with gripping story – complete with jet skis- fire, explosions, and splashes.
I highly recommend watching it!
Show times are 1.15PM & 3.30PM
6.
Far Far Away
This is the fairy tale world of Shrek!
Shrek 4D ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Go on a journey in the Kingdom of Far Far Away… the 4D seats will surely surprise you 😉
It’s an air-conditioned indoor attraction which is great to escape from the sun.
Donkey LIVE ⭐⭐✨ (2/5)
Wanna watch DONKEY doing a LIVE stand-up comedy? Hang out at the Hook’s Knight Club!
However, the jokes did not really land and I thought the engagement with the crowd was stale. Hence giving it a low score.
My biggest take-away was the air-con in the room.
Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey ⭐⭐⭐✨ (3.5/5)
Join Puss in Boots on an adventure with the golden goose! This is a moderate roller coaster with a fun storyline.
Enchanted Airways ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Ride on the back of a dragon! This is a junior roller coaster, fast but not scary.
Magic Potion Spin ⭐✨ (1.5/5)
Inside the gift shop, there’s actually another ride- an indoor ferris wheel. Personally I think this is super boring… The ride also takes FOREVER to load/unload, not a wise way to spend your time here.
7.
Minion Land (New in 2025!)
Back then, this used to be Madagascar – Remember the talking animals and lemurs dancing to “I like to move it move it?”
WELL, today these banana obsessed yellow tic-tacs have taken over! Starting from 14 Feb 2025, this is now officially MINION LAND!
Minion Mayhem ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Wanna join the ranks? Ride on! This is a 4D simulator ride where you get transformed into a Minion.
Silly Swirly ⭐⭐ (2/5)
A spinning ride, Minion-themed version of Dino-Soarin’.
Buggy Boogie ⭐⭐ (2/5)
A Minion-themed carousel. I dont know why they have 2 spinny ride in 1 zone. I wish there were more variety.
ESSENTIAL Tips for Visiting USS
Before I get to the ULTIMATE visiting route, here are the essential tips that form its basis:
Pack Light
The best way to save to save time & money is to bring as LITTLE things as possible. It’s a waste of time and money to keep visiting the lockers between each rides
Although you’ll need to store your bags and phones before getting on the big boy rides like Battlestar Galactica and The Mummy, most other rides allow you to carry your bag into your seat. However, the seats aren’t that spacious, so the smaller your bag, the better your experience. Not only do you save money on locker fees, but you also avoid the hassle of constantly going back and forth to store your stuff.
Skip Lunch
Now, here’s the biggest time-saving trick: skip the lunch rush.
I’m not asking you to starve—hear me out. The biggest problem at lunchtime in USS is the thousands of visitors all trying to grab food at the same time. You could find yourself stuck in long queues, paying for overpriced meals, and struggling to find a seat.
Note: Expect to spend ~18$/pax for food
Here’s how you can avoid this nightmare…
- Step 1: Bring Your Own Food
- Technically, outside food and drinks aren’t allowed inside the park, but here’s the trick—bring small, compact food like sandwiches or granola bars. If they fit in your pocket, even better- because
- Step 2:
- You can eat them while you’re queueing up!
- Instead of wasting time hunting for a seat and waiting in long lines, you can snack while waiting in queues or in any of the shaded spots around the park.
- Step 3: Profit
- By skipping the lunch rush, you can save up to 1.5 hours—that’s two to three extra rides while everyone else is stuck in food lines. When they’re eating, you’re riding.
How to MINIMISE Time in Queue
If you wanna ride all the best ride but don’t like to queue, here’s a little secret…
- Peak queue times: 🕚 11 AM – 1 PM
- Slight dip: 🕐 1 PM – 2 PM (Lunchtime)
- Picks up again: 🕒 3 PM
- Shortest queues: 🕔 After 5 PM
Between 10–11 AM and after 5 PM, queues are at their lowest, it’s like as if you’re on a “free” Express Pass!
Express Pass – Worth it?
Speaking of Express Pass…
For $100 on top of your $80 ticket, you get to skip all the queues and head straight to the rides. Not gonna lie—it feels amazing walking past the long lines, especially when wait times hit crazy levels.
How It Works:
After purchasing, you’ll get a barcode. Just show it to the ride attendant, and they’ll direct you to the Express queue. Yes, there’s still a queue, but it’s significantly shorter—sometimes even instant access.
For theater-based attractions, Express Pass holders get to enter first, which is a huge benefit if the seating fills up.
Good for:
With an Express Pass, you easily save 30 mins to 1 hour per ride, especially during peak hours. It’s perfect for those who want to maximize rides in minimal time. In summary, you’ll be able to cover ALL of USS in half a day at ANY time of the day with the Express Pass
Do You NEED it?
Good news is, you DON’T need an express pass to have a good time at the USS. That’s why I’m gonna share the perfect visiting route with you:
The ULTIMATE Route
- Arrival @ 9:45 AM
- Our grand plan is to hit the most popular ride while the queue is the least. SO, start your day be at the Universal Globe by 9.45am. Get into the park as early as possible!
- Go to Sci-Fi City
- Past the gates, immediately head to the sci-fi city for the Battlestar Galactica. Just go straight and turn right. Keep following the main path until it feels like you’re in the future. You can’t get lost if you just walk towards where the huge red & blue roller coasters are.
- I strongly recommend IGNORING everything else like taking pictures or sightseeing for now because you can do those without queueing LATER.
- PLEASE DONT GO SHOPPING NOW – we have rides to take!!
- Sci-fi city
- Ride the Human, Cylon, && the Transformers 4D.
- You can use the lockers beside the ride.
- Go to Ancient Egypt
- Next, walk towards the Egyptian statues
- Ancient Egypt
- Ride the Revenge of the Mummy
- LET ME KNOW IF YOU LIKE IT. IT’S MY FAVORITE RIDE!!
- Go to The Lost World
- Walk through the gates of the Jurassic Park
- The Lost World
- Ride the Rapids Adventure
- If you brought your raincoats this is where it’ll be useful Because we’re getting on the Rapids Adventure
- Ride the Canopy Flyer
- Even if you get abit wet, you’ll be just fine because you can get dry while flying above the park atop the Canopy flyer
- Ride the Rapids Adventure
- CHECK the time! Watch the Waterworld @ 1.15PM
- Otherwise, take a break, have your lunch around The Lost World.
- From this point onwards, feel free to let loose abit. Enjoy the sceneries, take some photos because around this time the queue duration is the LONGEST so no point rushing about anymore.
- Go to Far Far Away
- Just next door 😉
- Ride the Shrek4D
- The sun is VERY hot right now so we’re catching the indoor rides first.
- Go to Minion Land
- Ride the Minion Mayhem
- Back to Far Far Away
- Ride the Enchanted Airways
- Ride the Puss in Boots’ Giant’s Journey
- Go to New York
- We’re actually back where we started from.
- Watch the Lights-Camera-Action
and tadaaaa!! You’ve experienced the best of USS!!!
BUT you’re not done yet!
Getting the MOST of the Park
Encore
If you liked any particular ride and wanna ride it again, this is the perfect time to encore as much as you like because the crowd is dying down as everyone’s starting to head home.
In one of my visit, i rode the Revenge of the Mummy 10 over times just before closing- I was almost lip syncing the ride.
BUT if you’ve had your fill of adrenaline…
Immersive zones
Come and explore the immersive neighbourhoods of USS.
I LOVE how they put so much thought and detail into each of the zones.
My personal favorites are:
– Behind Lights Camera Action,
– along New York,
– the whole of Ancient Egypt,
– and the Kingdom of Far Far away
Their immersion goes DEEP, even the GIFT shop and the Food courts are in theme.
Immersive Food Courts
Although I despise the pricing of the food stuff, the food court venues are hard not to love. The COOLEST is the Discovery Food court at The Lost World. It actually reminds me of the kitchen raptor scene in the OG Jurassic Park.
Even the Goldilocks’ restaurant in Far Far Away serves Porridge!
Character Meet & Greet
How about meeting your FAVORITE fictional character in person? USS has meet & greet events in every zone at various timings. BUT this is the LOUSIEST part that I feel USS is not doing enough for guests.
The meet and greet itself is great: we can meet
– Shrek & Fiona,
– Gru and Lucy,
– Po and Tigress,
– and even raptors from Jurassic Park
BUT it’s so difficult to find the timings online. The only way to check is to go onsite and read off the signboard OR download their USS app, which only lets you check the timing per event.
As a guest, I would LOVE it so much to just see a timetable or timeline compared to CURRENT time and location so that I can easily refer to the upcoming && nearby meet and greet event I can attend.
It’s not difficult to do, i’d do it but they said the timing changes once in a while so i rather they do it for us.
In each session, they will do some parade-ing before settling down and inviting the crowd for a Photo-op session. Don’t be shy to get into the line for photos, especially if it’s your favorite character!
Cheapest Tickets?
Tickets are now only sold ONLINE.
On their main website it costs
– $83 for Weekday
– and $85 for Weekend
BUT I always find better prices when booking via KLOOK, because I have a discount code! First timers can get 10% off, possibly scoring a ticket for about $75.
June 2025 UPDATE: Unfortunately USS just blocked usage of discount code for single ticket purchases- BUT you can still get a discount if you buy the KLOOK pass + USS entrance. (they also slashed creator commission to 2%)
USS did not pay me a single cent to make this ultimate guide, BUT that’s ok because I’m doing this for YOU. I just have 1 favor to ask: Please consider booking your ticket to USS using my affiliate link:
– Book USS Ticket HERE
I will get a small commission from every bookings made – at no additional cost to you, which helps support me creating more guides like this. Thank you very much 🙂
Best Way to Get Here
- Take the train via the PURPLE/YELLOW line to HarbourFront.
- Get out from the Exit C
- Walk towards Bus Stop #4
- Just infront of the bus stop, look out for the booth that says “RWS8 Shuttle Bus“
For the price of $1, the bus will take you to the Resorts World station, just a minute walk away to the USS.
When you’re done, you can also take the same shuttle bus from where it dropped you off to get back to HarbourFront – for FREE!
CONGRATULATIONS
You are now one of the few USS experts, ready to make the MOST of your time and money on your next visit!
