What Makes the PERFECT Location
The BEST place to stay are those with Multiple and DIRECT access to the National Stadium. Accessibility is KEY. The more options you have the better – because you might save yourself from a night of trouble.
Just imagine the night after your concert. Everyone will be crowding the train and bus stations trying to get home. The BIGGEST bottleneck is usually the Stadium train station. Actually the crowd control at the Stadium all through the train station is excellent. At some events they even hire DJs to entertain the crowd as they let people into the train station batch by batch. However this will still devour 15-30 mins of your life until you get on the train platform.
SOOO if you have multiple options to get home; especially MULTIPLE bus routes home: you’ll first ones to reach home and be lying comfortably on your bed.
Top 3 Areas
Here are the 3 best areas to stay for hotels with good value and accessibility:
Geylang
Geylang has the best proximity and price. However, actually it’s quite annoying to get to stadium from Geylang. Bus 11 goes one big round before getting into Stadium station from the South. And the worst thing about bus 11 is… the bus stop infront of the stadium serves BOTH direction. So beware when trying to get out of Stadium else you might be stuck in a 25 minutes loop.
You can also take the train from MountBatten to Stadium.
Both bus and train will get you there within 30 minutes.
However, the REAL saving grace for Geylang is the food… and many budget hotel options. Just avoid booking any further than the Lor 12 because thats the red light district. UNLESS you have more exciting plans in mind.

Kampong Glam
You’ll be in walking distance to the Nicoll Highway yellow line station, just 1 stop away from Stadium- Or choose any of the 5 bus services to get to the stadium within 20 mins.
On top of that, Kampong glam is also quite affordable – and is a very charming cultural location

Bencoolen
Although it looks the FURTHEST away from the stadium, it doesn’t actually take that long to get to and fro the Stadium.
Get on the yellow train line via Bras Basa or board bus 14 or 16 – and you’ll be at the stadium within 25 mins.
What makes Bencoolen stand out among the rest is the the array of RELIABLE & Value for Money hotel options. I reviewed some of them personally in another post you can read later.
However, the BEST part about Bencoolen its accessibility to many other major attractions in the city. Your concert is only 1 of the nights you’ll spend in Singapore, so having more options is gonna be a huge advantage for your trip.

Tanjong Pagar is another GREAT place. Buses 10, 70, and 197, brings you to the stadium within 30 mins.
The hotels are renowned & reliable BUT you cant find any budget options here.
